Can you trust the webshop’s reviews?
Reviews can help you spot repeated problems with delivery, returns, or customer service. Stars alone do not tell the whole story, and the shop’s own review box is not the same as an independent review profile.
Shopeye therefore looks at both independent profiles and claims on the shop itself.
What does Shopeye check?
Shopeye looks at, among other things:
- whether an independent review profile exists
- whether the overall rating is high, mixed, or low
- whether many customers appear to have had bad experiences
- whether the shop shows large claims such as “500 verified customers” without an independent profile that supports them
Many bad reviews are a warning signal. A solid independent review history can be positive. No profile usually means “could not be verified” — not automatically “bad shop”.
Can Shopeye decide whether a review is fake?
Not with certainty. Shopeye can spot some unreliable review signals and differences between the shop’s own claims and independent sources. That should not be described as proof that specific reviews are fake.

Look for patterns — not only the average
When you read reviews yourself, you get more from them by:
- sorting by the newest reviews
- reading both positive and negative experiences
- looking for repeated problems on the same topic
- separating the product, the delivery, and the customer service
- checking whether the reviews cover the same shop and the same domain
A low score can come from real problems, but also from a few conflicts or a skewed group of reviewers. A high score can be new, based on few reviews, or shaped by how the shop collects them.
A shop without reviews: is that dangerous?
Not necessarily. A new or small shop can be real even if it does not yet have a review profile. Missing reviews just give you less independent documentation.
If the shop also has a very new domain and no verifiable company, the combination can trigger a stronger warning about a new and unverifiable webshop.
Reviews do not prove everything
Even an established review profile cannot guarantee your purchase. Companies can change owner, delivery can change, and reviews can cover a different period than your order.
Use reviews together with the company check, return terms, and payment method.

Shopeye looks for independent documentation and clear problems. It does not try to declare individual reviews genuine or fake. No reviews is missing knowledge; many bad reviews are an actual warning.
